Old Gardenstown with Crovie & Pennan by Kay Beaton

Overlooking Gamrie Bay are the villages of Gardenstown (known locally as Gamrie), Crovie (pronounced 'Crivie') and Pennan. If you have ever seen the film 'Local Hero' then you'll recognise Pennan!

This coastline, with its rugged, granite cliffs and northern exposure, is often subject to severe storms; many a time a ship has got into trouble and required rescue from the locals. Yet, for hundreds of years it has been home to a thriving fishing industry.

This book contains history and photos of these three fishing villages, now mainly tourist destinations on the North East coast of Scotland. If you ever visit the area you'll easily recognise many of the sights in this book.
